Before you start
You need a WordPress site with the WSMS plugin (formerly WP SMS) and a BulkSMS account with credits.
The BulkSMS gateway needs WSMS Pro; it isn't in the free version. To receive replies you also need the Two-Way SMS add-on.
WSMS can send WooCommerce order updates, login one-time passcodes and two-factor codes, form notifications, and scheduled campaigns.
Create a BulkSMS API token
Log in to your BulkSMS account and go to Settings > Developers.
Click Create API Token and give it a name, for example WordPress. Copy the Token ID and Token Secret. The secret is only shown once.
Choose BulkSMS as your gateway
In WordPress, go to WSMS > Settings > SMS Gateway and choose BulkSMS.
Enter your Token ID and Token Secret. Add a sender if your account uses one.
Save, then send yourself a test from WSMS > Send SMS and check the result in WSMS > Outbox.
Your BulkSMS username and password also work, but an API token is recommended.
Receive replies (optional)
In WordPress, go to WSMS > Two-Way SMS > Settings > Gateway Connection and copy the webhook URL.
In BulkSMS, go to Settings > Advanced > Webhooks and click Create New Webhook. Paste the WSMS URL and choose the trigger for inbound (received) messages.
Troubleshooting
Messages aren't sent: check the Token ID and Token Secret, that numbers are in international format, and that your account has credits for the destination country.
Replies don't appear: check the reply is in the BulkSMS Inbox and that the webhook uses the WSMS URL.
You can see every message and its delivery status under Sent Messages in BulkSMS.
All setup and ready to go!
If you have any questions, please contact our support team. Include your account name and put WSMS in the subject line, and we'll be happy to help.
