Before you start

Each of these platforms has its own BulkSMS app. You need an account on the platform and a BulkSMS account with credits.

They all work the same way: connect your BulkSMS account once, then use BulkSMS as a trigger (to start a workflow) or an action (to send an SMS).

Using Zapier, Make or n8n? They have their own guides.

Create a BulkSMS API token

Log in to your BulkSMS account and go to Settings > Developers.

Click Create API Token and name it after the platform. Copy the Token ID and Token Secret. The secret is only shown once.

If the platform asks for a username and password, enter the Token ID as the username and the Token Secret as the password. If that doesn't work, use your BulkSMS login details instead.

In Zoho Flow, create a flow and search for BulkSMS. Connect your account when asked.

Triggers Actions
Message initiated, Message delivered, Message failed, Message received Send message, Schedule message, Block phone number

Zoho Flow has ready-made flows for booking apps, such as sending an SMS when an appointment is booked in Acuity Scheduling, Cal.com, Checkfront or Cliniko.

In Albato, create an automation and choose BulkSMS. Connect your account when asked.

Triggers Actions
Message received, Sent message status updated Send message

Albato has a free plan with a limited number of transactions and automations each month.

In Pabbly Connect, create a workflow and search for BulkSMS.com. Connect your account when asked.

Triggers Actions
Message Received, Message Sent Send SMS, Send Message, Send Group SMS

Pabbly lists another app with a similar name, "BulksSMS.com" (with a double S), which is a different company. Make sure you choose BulkSMS.com.

In OttoKit, create a workflow and search for BulkSMS.com. Connect your account when asked.

Triggers include Message sent and Message received, so you can start a workflow in WordPress or another app when a customer texts you.

OttoKit is popular with WordPress sites and has a free plan.

Troubleshooting

The connection fails: check the Token ID and Token Secret (or your BulkSMS login), and that the token hasn't been revoked.

Messages aren't delivered: check numbers are in international format and your account has credits. Look for the message under Sent Messages in BulkSMS.

A trigger test finds nothing: send, receive or wait for a delivery report first, so the platform has a recent example.

All setup and ready to go!
