In order to make our pricing structure more easily understood, BulkSMS is changing the pricing structure of SMS credits on www.bulksms.com. The cost of sending a text message from our messaging service will remain the same.
The majority of destinations on the coverage table currently cost 0.8 credits per message. Our belief is that it will be easier for our clients to understand the costs of messaging if the majority of the destinations cost 1.0 credit per message.
The number of credits required to deliver to any destination is therefore going to increase, but the cost of credits will drop proportionally.
From a financial perspective, this means we will be increasing the number of SMS credits required to send a text message on BulkSMS.com by a factor of 1.25. At the same time, we will be decreasing the cost of SMS credits by a factor of 1.25. The net result is that the cost of delivery of SMS messages from BulkSMS.com, will not change.
An example
You currently have an SMS credit balance of 800 and this will enable you to send out 1,000 text messages to destinations that cost 0.8 credits. Under the new SMS credit structure, any credit that you have on your username will be increased by a factor of 1.25 on the 1st of February, so if you have 800, your new balance will be 1,000. You will still be able to send out 1,000 text messages to destinations that used to cost 0.8 credits, but now cost 1 credit.
Effective date for new pricing structure of SMS credits
The change to the BulkSMS.com pricing structure will take place at approximately 05h00 GMT on Monday, February 1st, 2010. It is possible that the BulkSMS servers will be offline for a few minutes at this time, however, we do not expect the system changes to the server to take more than 10 minutes.
Please be aware that on this date, the SMS credit balance on your BulkSMS username will be increased by a factor of 1.25. At the same time, the SMS credit cost of delivery will be increased by a factor of 1.25 and the cost of credits will be decreased by a factor of 1.25. You do not lose out on the value of the SMS credits you have purchased before the 1st February 2010.
