From the Great Hall to the Start Line. BulkSMS at the Castle Series

BulkSMS at the Castle Series

Held in the Great Hall within the historic castle, the dinner brought together people connected to the Castle Series for an evening of conversation, reflection and celebration at the end of the season. For Dan, however, the evening offered something beyond the setting. It was an opportunity to see first-hand the value of BulkSMS’s association with an organisation and event where the brand has become highly visible.

And the response was surprisingly personal.

During casual conversations with other guests throughout the evening, Dan found that BulkSMS was already a familiar name. People recognised the brand, and many had a story to tell about receiving a BulkSMS message themselves.

That kind of recognition is particularly valuable in a market where SMS itself is increasingly becoming a commodity.

The technology behind sending an SMS may be relatively invisible to the end user, but the choice of provider still matters to businesses. As the messaging market becomes more competitive, brand reputation, credibility and trust become increasingly important parts of the decision.

The Castle Series gives BulkSMS an opportunity to build those associations in a very different environment from the digital channels where the business normally operates.

For an online service, physical presence matters.

A customer may discover BulkSMS through a search engine, a recommendation or a digital campaign, but credibility is built in many different ways. Being visible alongside established, well-regarded organisations and events gives the brand a physical presence that digital advertising alone cannot always create.

That is one of the reasons the Castle Series sponsorship has become an important part of BulkSMS’s marketing activity in the UK.

Dan’s visit also continued beyond the dinner. On Saturday, he returned to Hever Castle to see the BulkSMS branding and visibility across the venue. The branding was prominent and well positioned, providing another reminder that the association extends beyond a logo on a sponsorship asset. It puts BulkSMS into a real-world environment where people are experiencing the event, talking to one another and encountering the brand naturally.

There was also, of course, the small matter of the venue itself.

Hever Castle has a remarkable history, dating back centuries and famously associated with Anne Boleyn. As Richard Simpson noted after hearing about Dan’s visit, there is something quite extraordinary about walking through the same passages and spaces that people from centuries ago once walked through. It is a long way from the world of APIs, messaging platforms and enterprise communications.

And perhaps that is exactly what makes the association interesting.

BulkSMS is a digital business, but businesses are ultimately built on relationships between people. Sponsorships such as the Castle Series create opportunities to step outside the digital environment, meet customers and partners in person, build familiarity and demonstrate that there are real people behind the service. For Dan, the weekend provided a chance to maintain those relationships while seeing the BulkSMS brand in action. And for everyone who received a BulkSMS message during the evening, there was an even simpler reminder: sometimes the best brand visibility is when people recognise your name without needing to be told who you are.
